Your First Year in Rotary: Discover, Connect, and Serve:
Welcome—whether you're just starting out or deepening your Rotary journey, this page offers simple, jargon-free help to find your footing and explore what Rotary means, here in Erie and beyond. You’ll learn as you go, and we’re always here if you have questions... a quick note to start your journey:
- Our Erie Rotary Club operates as a 501(c)(4) service organization, alongside the Erie Rotary Charity Fund, a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Curious to know more? Just ask!
- Go to Club Resources as your go-to place for easy access to club guidance for new and experienced members.
When you join Rotary, you become part of a global network of people committed to service and friendship. To support your journey, Rotary International will send you a series of messages during your first year of membership. These messages introduce you to the many ways you can engage with Rotary — from learning about global initiatives to discovering opportunities to connect, serve, and lead beyond your own club.
Our club complements these messages through our New Member Resource Hub and mentorship program.
During your first 6–12 months, you will be paired with a club mentor who will help you navigate your Rotary experience. Your mentor is a friendly guide who can help answer questions such as:
How our club operates and what service areas we care about
Ways you can bring your passions and ideas into new or existing projects
Opportunities to connect with Rotary beyond our club
Rotary is much bigger than any one club, and we want you to experience that broader impact. During your first year, we hope you will:
Discover ways to contribute your talents and interests to strengthen our club
Visit another Rotary club while traveling or in nearby communities
Attend a district event and see how more than 50 Rotary clubs across Central Colorado create impact together
Through these experiences, you’ll build friendships, expand your network, and see the full reach of Rotary’s service.
Our ultimate goal is that, after your first year, you feel confident in your place within the club and the wider Rotary family — and that you’ll be ready to mentor the next new member, helping them see that joining Rotary was the right choice.
